Bass Guitar
A member of the lute family, the guitar is a fretted musical instrument generally with six steel/nylon strings. Classified as a chordophone which are a class of musical instruments that produce sounds with stretched vibrating strings, a guitar is typically played with both hands by strumming/plucking with either a pick/plectrum or fingers on one hand while simultaneously fretting or pressing the strings against the frets with the fingers of the other hand.
The Bass Guitar is generally made up with 4/5 strings. The bass guitar sets up the pulse of the piece and is a connect between the rhythm and harmony. Hence it sets up the foundation for the harmony and rhythm.
